Join Us for Summer Fun!

"So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun." (Eccl. 8:15 NIV).

We have several summer excursions planned and hope that you can join us!

July 26 or August 3 - Washington County Playhouse "The Little Mermaid"

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.”

We will be attending as a group. A final date has not been selected, we are hoping to hear what date suits the majority of our attendees. The cost of the event includes dinner and the play. Adults will be $52.00 while children are $42.00. If we have a group of 20 or more attending, the costs will be reduced to $42 and $38 respectively. If you are interested, please notify the church office by Wednesday, July 3.

July 6 - Salute to Independence - 7:30 p.m.

We will be attending the 34th Annual Salute to Independence at the Antietam National Battlefield. Since 1986 the Maryland Symphony Orchestra has presented a free “Salute to Independence” Concert at Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, MD.  Held on the first Saturday of July, the “Salute” has been billed as “Maryland’s Most Patriotic Event” and has also been recognized by the American Bus Association as “One of the Top 100 Events in North America.” The evening concert attracts nearly 30,000 people from all over and is capped off by a spectacular fireworks display, one of the largest in the region. If you are interested in car pooling and siting together for the event, please let Pastor Stan know by Wednesday, July 3.

July 7 - Totem Pole Playhouse "Smoke on the Mountain"

Totem Pole Playhouse is pleased to present Theatre A Go-Go, Inc.’s production of SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN, a story of a Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show features 24 rousing bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders Family, a traveling group making its return to performing after a five-year hiatus. Pastor Oglethorpe, the young and enthusiastic minister of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, has enlisted the Sanders Family in his efforts to bring his tiny congregation into “the modern world.” Between songs, each family member “witnesses” – telling a story about an important event in their life. Songs include “No Tears in Heaven,” “Wonderful Time Up There,” “I’m Taking a Flight,” and “I’ll Fly Away.”  The cost per person is $50, this will be reduced if we have a group of 15 or more. Please contact Pastor Stan or the church office by Wednesday, July 3. He will be attending and hopes to have some company!
