St. Mark’s Community Food Bank Receiving Honor
Our Food Bank has been awarded the Rural Food Bank of the Year by the Maryland Food Bank and will be recognized at the Hunger Advocate Awards Breakfast at the Radisson at Cross Keys in Baltimore on September 17th.
We are the largest and most complete Food Bank in Washington County serving close to 1,000 families a month. The award is recognizing the hard work of Beth Stouffer, who started the Food Bank served as coordinator for over 30 years, and to Julie Stouffer who succeeded Beth and has expanded the variety of food offered and the process of allowing families to make their own choices of food.
The award also recognizes the many volunteers who come in each week to serve those in need of assistance. This is a ministry supported by other churches through donations and volunteers as well as the support of the disciples of St. Mark’s. We will be recognizing and giving thanks for this ministry at both Services on September 20th.
