The Great Transformer

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...”

(Romans 12:2) NKJV

The Transformers are a line of comic book characters and popular toys, as well as mechanical movie “actors”- that transform themselves into humanoid-type robots.  Their fame brought the word “transform” into popular culture.  But “transform” is a Bible word.  Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, while Philippians 3:21 tells us that one day, our Savior will come from heaven and transform our mortal bodies to be like His glorious body.

Jesus is the Great Transformer.  The Bible tells us He transformed water into wine, and a stormy sea into a placid pond. He transformed Mary Magdalene from being possessed by seven demonic spirits, into a faithful follower –attending both His death and resurrection.  He transformed the apostle Paul from throwing Christians into prison, to leading non-Christians into the kingdom of God.  Most importantly, He transformed His tomb into a triumph.

When we by faith, fully believe Christ is who he says He is, when we truly lead faith-filled lives, when we are faithful and obedient to God’s commands, no area of our lives is unaffected.  Our transformation is more amazing than anything in the movies.

Let us not be conformed to the world around us, rather let us be transformed into the children of God that we were created to be.
